This is the first time my husband has collected EI benefits. I have calculated the amount owing but have not paid it. Do I enter anything on the tax return? Will the payment and tax effects be reflected on 2019 return?
When you enter your husband's 2018 T4E tax slip, if there is a percentage amount (usually 30%) shown on that slip and his net income is in excess of $66,375, TurboTax will calculate any amount of EI Repayment that must be made and it will automatically be deducted on your tax return.
However, If your husband has never collected EI, he should be exempt from benefit repayment as he did not receive regular benefits in the preceding 10 tax years.
