How do I file my taxes for my school tuition if my mom paid for it on her credit card, but I sent her $2000 to contribute to it. How do we each claim a portion?

It doesn’t matter who paid for your tuition. The student (You) will claim the all tuition on their tax return first. It will be used to reduce the student’s taxes. If there is anything left, the student can transfer the tuition to their parent.

Here is a FAQ that talks about what deductions, credits, and expenses a student can claim. At the bottom are links to how to claim tuition as well as how to transfer tuition. https://turbotax.community.intuit.ca/replies/2648040
