If you have an RRSP Contribution Slip that is for a Spousal RRSP, you still need to enter it on your tax return as a Spousal Contribution.

CRA has rules that require the contributing spouse to report as income any spousal RRSP's that are withdrawn within three years of contributing to them, and the "annuitant spouse" receives the tax deduction.

An exception to this can be made if at the time of payment, or when we consider the payment to have been received, you and your spouse or common-law partner were living separate and apart because of the breakdown of your relationship.

You'll need to notify your investor or institution of this change in marital status, and inquire with them if you are able to cease contributions to the spousal plan.
