Will I receive some sort of T3 or T4 type document for RRSP purchases? How can I confirm that I have bought RRSPs this year and how much have I contributed?

You don't receive T-slips for RRPS contribution, you receive receipts. If you go in CRA's My Account, you'll see the amount of your contributions for tax year 2018.
