Your total payable is the amount of federal and provincial or territorial taxes that you owe before you subtract your total credits (line 48200). It also includes, if applicable, CPP contributions payable on self-employment and other earnings (line 42100), Employment insurance premiums payable on self-employment and other eligible earnings (line 42120), social benefits repayment (line 42200)
Double-check the amounts you entered on your T-slips to make sure that they were correct and entered in the proper boxes.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
I fled for my sil and last year’s return had a “calculation error” resulting in her receiving a lower refund. The difference was in federal tax payable. I have gone line by line and it seems the error is on CRA’s part. I just did her her 2024 return and her refund is lower than filed again. I haven’t seen the NoA yet but I’m betting there’s another supposed calculation error. I do about 10 family members and hers is the only one that this has happened with. I’ll be writing to them for a more detailed explanation.
Same for my sil. I’ve gone line by line and the only difference is in CRA’s calculation of federal tax. THEY calculated it incorrectly as far as I can tell so I’ll be writing to get an explanation.
In my sill’s case the NoA just said the difference was due to a calculation error. I manually calculated the changed line (federal tax) and CRA’s amount is incorrect. That was 2023 T1. I believe they’ve done it to get 2024 return as well.
