Can't remove caregiver amount or disability amount

Hi. My husband was eligible for the disability tax credit up until Dec. 21, 2024. Therefore, for the 2025 tax year he is no longer eligible. However, Turbotax Deluxe do it yourself online 2025 has automatically included the caregiver amount for me and the disability amount for him, even though I have unticked the "I have a mental or physical" infirmity in his profile. I can't see anywhere else to edit to get rid of these huge credits, which is seriously skewing the returns. Please help!

Update: I ended up starting my tax returns over again, and declined to download any slips or information from CRA, I entered everything manually. The caregiver and disability amounts were then not included in the new corrected returns. Annoying. Also, the download of slips from the CRA the first time around did not work for either of us, even though we each had several slips available on the CRA site. No slip information came through, just some other info like RRSP contribution room, etc. But I suspect something must have downloaded in the background that included the now-outdated disability tax credit stuff. Kind of pointless and nerve wracking; made me not really trust anything in TurboTax, luckily I went over everything in the detailed summary both times with a fine tooth comb.

When you used "Auto-fill My Return," the CRA’s system likely flagged your husband as having a valid DTC on file because their internal records often lag or still associate the SIN with a multi-year approval, even if the expiration date has passed.

 

TurboTax Online often stores "transfer" amounts (such as the disability amount transferred from a spouse) in background forms (Schedules 2 and 5). Ticking the profile box is only a trigger; if the data is already in those background schedules, the software sometimes fails to clear those forms because the trigger was unticked.

 

It is quite common for Auto-fill to fail for certain slips early in March. Many employers and financial institutions have until the end of February to file, and the CRA can take 3–10 business days to process those into the Auto-fill system. Manual entry is often the only way to be 100% sure for the first few weeks of March.
