I ran into this on my spousal return, but not on mine, even though they have the same numbers on lines 68140 and 17600.
WE both have 2 T3 slips. (Since the T3 splitting wasn't working for capital gains., I entered 2 values cut in half for each return for one of the slips.)
For BOTH my spousal, and mine, indeed, the number for capital gains on line 68140 was 31.01 lower than the number for line 17600. ($12, 793 .46 on 68140, instead of 12,824.47, which is the correct sum of the T3s on line 17600.
Could it have something to do with a return of capital number entered on line 42? Unfortunately the difference there is not 31.01.
SO pretty odd that my return was accepted with that apparent error, but hers was not. I tried 2x.
Well if that's the case TurbotaxAniqua, you may want to inform your staff - I just spent 45 minutes on hold because the CSR that called me had no idea of this issue and was scrambling to try and find an answer. To no avail.
just got an email that the issue has been fixed. but hold and behold it was not.
this is such a mess for TubroTax, i don't care where the issue is and who at fault.
however since TurboTax knew of such concern, they should have informed the potential customer before they spent their time on their system filling all the data and paid for the filing that due to the fact that they have filled in T3 and have capital gain, they won't be able to proceed with netfile and if they continue they should wait until the issue is resolved by whoever causing it!
@VicHe We are aware of this issue, and our development team is working on a resolution. We appreciate your patience.
WORK AROUND THAT WORKED FOR ME. For Dual returns: enter 0.5 values of T3 slips for both persons. Then values on forms T936 and line 17600 agree.
WORK AROUND THAT WORKED FOR ME:
For dual returns, enter 0.5 of all T3 values for each person, as if 100% owned.
THen form T936 agreed with Schedule 3. No 95365 problem
Hi dlank1
So if my spouses e-file was already successfully submitted but mine not, will this 100% of 1/2 of the T3 value work? After looking back at my spouses tax return, the 50% of the T3 never made it into her filing. So her return is in and accepted but actually incorrect. Once this mess is sorted I'll refile hers with correct data.
WORKAROUND: for dual person files: enter 3 T3s, each with half of all values, but labeled at 100% owned for each at the top. Maybe only enter 1/2 total cap gains in box 53 instead of putting in the split time period values in 52 and 53, I'm not sure about that. For me, this made agreement for values on Sched 3 and Chart A in T936(?) form, and I could submit with NETFILE.
WORKAROUND THAT WORKED: I entered 1/2 of all T3 values for both myself and spouse, with 100 ownership at the top. I also only put an entry, for the summed (half) values of 52 and 53 into box 53. This produced agreement in values, which were correct, and allowed me to netfile both returns.
