Clearly this question is creating a problem for many because of Turbo tax bug and maybe we need to really understand what this question is asking in the first place, because I am very tempted to say no, and just avoid that bug and get my taxes netfiled.
Here is my situation:
I became a Permanent Resident in 2022 (came to Canada for only 3 weeks and I obtained my PR).
I became a resident for tax purposes in 2023 as I moved here permanently, got a job, and earned taxable income.
Would the answer to this question be yes or no?
Your answer would be "NO" if you still have your PR. You can contact the CRA at 1-800-959-8281so that they can assist you with the proper residency status.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
