Entering T5008

When entering Box 16, Quantity of Securities, your app insisted on a "dollar and cents" format, i.e. allowing only 2 decimal points of precision.  However the amounts posted on the T5008 slips I had to enter did not refer to currency at all but to, presumably, quantity of securities, not dollar value of securities.  So these are expressed on the slips to 4 decimal digits of precision.  So I was forced to round up the amounts reported on my slips to 2 decimals, which is of course not the accuracy that was reported.  To me it seems Turbo Tax is making an error in its interpretation of the data type of this field.

Entering T5008

Hi @gumbylives,

Thanks for sharing this feedback. In terms of securities transactions the important values are those pertaining to the gain and loss as these are ultimately what results in tax implications. Ensuring these are accurate will assist in fulfilling the tax obligations, and keeping reference documentation if needed in the future.
