Error 90308 When Trying to use NETFILE

So I've completed my return, TurboTax did not seem to find any errors and said I was good to go and file my return. I paid the fee to file mine and my spouse's returns, go to submit everything and I get error code 90308 which seems to be an issue with the CPP contributions in my T4 compared to the contributions in the actual return being submitted.

Basically what the error is telling me is that lines 30800, 22215 and 44800 are supposed to add up to lines 50340 and 50341 (boxes 16 and 16A on all my T4s, and I only have one T4). When I look at the summary of my return, 30800, 22215 and 44800 add up to box 16 on my T4 and so it seems that 16A isn't being added to the right line on my return (Line 22215 according to my T4).

Two calls to TurboTax and I was once referred to the IRS to try and solve my issue (I'm in Canada) and the second time they tried to be a bit more helpful but still ended up telling me it was a CRA issue and to contact them to solve it. My frustration is that it seems this is clearly not a CRA issue. The CRA won't accept the return because either I'm making a mistake somewhere that both TurboTax customer support and myself can't see, or there is an issue with the software not putting the right information in the right lines.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any advice on what I might be doing wrong? Or do I have this all right and this is a TurboTax issue?

Error 90308 When Trying to use NETFILE

You'll receive the following error code while filing your NETFILE return if the CRA doesn't think it should include Canada Pension Plan (CPP) contributions and/or your Québec pension plan (QPP) contributions are reported correctly. This is typically due to your reported CPP and/or QPP not matching your residence of employment.

You can address this issue in TurboTax in one of the following ways:

  • If you resided in a province other than Québec and worked in Québec you'll receive a T4 tax slip and an RL-1 slip. The error will occur if you've entered CPP contributions (box 16) instead of QPP contributions (box 17) on the T4:
    • Enter your QPP contributions earned in Québec on a T4 with box 10 set to QC. If you have other employment income from another province, enter a separate T4 with your CPP contributions for employment earned outside Québec.
  • If you've entered CPP contributions (box 16) and QPP contributions (box 17) on the same T4:
    • Enter your CPP contributions for employment earned outside of Québec on a separate T4 from your QPP contributions for employment earned within Québec.
  • If you resided in Québec and had income from employment in Québec and from another province, you'll receive an RL-1 for Québec employment and a T4 for employment from another province. You'll receive an error if you've entered CPP contributions (box 16) and QPP contributions (box 17) on the same T4:
    • Enter your CPP contributions for employment earned outside of Québec on a separate T4 from your QPP contributions for employment earned within Québec.
  • If your T4 indicates that you're exempt from CPP (box 28) but you have amounts for CPP contributions (box 16) and pensionable earnings (box 26):
    • Verify the amounts and that you've entered them correctly. The CRA doesn't allow employees who are exempt from CPP/QPP to have an amount in box 16 or box 17. If you've entered your amounts exactly as they're shown on your T4, contact your employer to verify your T4 was completed correctly.

Thanks for choosing TurboTax.

Error 90308 When Trying to use NETFILE

Thanks for the reply! I don't think think any of these solutions help me though. I've added a picture of the error message I got to help clarify my issue.

I live in Ontario, worked only in Ontario in 2024 and I only have one T4 to enter. The issue I'm having seems to be 1a  from the error message. Lines 30800, 22215 and 44800 in the return that TurboTax is generating are not adding up to boxes 16 and 16A from my T4. They add up perfectly to just box 16, so I'm assuming that TurboTax isn't adding box 16A to the right line in my return. 16A is CPP2 contributions, which as far as I know is a new addition to the tax code as of January 2024.CRA Error.jpg
