T3 data entry is not flowing through to the proper schedule
WORKAROUND THAT WORKS: for dual return files (self/spouse):
For all T3s: enter 100% ownership at top and then half of all values into boxes. (I also only entered capital gains in box 53, using the same value as line 21, half the total, instead of dividing the time periods).
Then values for line 68140 on T936 were correct and agreed with Schedule 3 line 17600, and I could NETFILE both returns.
@dlank1 For the error on the T3 slip not balancing box 52+53 to equal box 21A, trying to enter the sum of 52+53 into box 53 (deleting 52) should fix the problem.
Is this way legal?
@songguanshan Yes! You can wait for the issue to be resolved. Our team is working on it, and we are hoping to get this fixed soon. Thank you for your patience.
The numbers are what they should be and in the right places. This is what TTx should be doing itself. Allowing entry of one value from T3s for 2 forms is an efficient method provided by TTx. But if you were e.g. submitting on paper, OR entering data for each person's form separately, that is exactly what you would do.
That being said...I am certainly not a lawyer! So you can wait to see whether they do fix this...they certainly should!
@dlank1 Thank you for the feedback. We are aware of this issue, and our development team is working on a resolution. Currently we don't have any ETA. Once it is resolved, we will update you in this thread. We appreciate your patience.
This solution did not work.
Even after doing so and having the lines completely matching in the preview, the error was still there.
I found a different workaround, removing the cents from the capital gains and rounding into the closer integer number. For some reason this worked as apparently there is rounding problem. This is completely legal per the CRA guidelines.
So my recommendation (this is not financial or tax advise): put in box 53 what you have in 21 and round the number by removing the cents. Then check that all the lines are matching in the preview.
