First time filing for 18 yo - how can he get a refund??

First time filing of 18 yo son. T4 income only $1783.62, and $63.34 deducted for income tax. TT says he will get a refund of $606.60. Is that right?? How can he get money back when he didn't pay? (He is an adult now I realize).

Well, he is most likely eligible for provincial credits, which is why the refund is $606.60.  Go check the provincial section of his tax return and you will see that he may be eligible for provincial credits.
