Responding here also - as I want to make sure I am made aware of the resolution.
Ok a lot of comments showing up on this thread. I want to be fair to Turbotax - the CRA really messed them up with how they handled the capital gains changes which Trudeau announced but which never got legislative approval. CRA made a bad judgement to just charge ahead and assume everything would fall in to place and told the tax software companies to fall in line. Now they're saying change your software at the last minute when there is zero time for testing. So CRA is responsible for creating the conditions that Turbotax has gotten stuck in. Nevertheless it would have been nice to see Turbotax message the whole situation a little bit more directly. And it will be nice to see them fix this specific issue soon hopefully. Must be tough to be in Turbotax customer relations these days.
I realize the deadline to file is April 30
I need to file my income tax today to get my carbon tax on time and I am also out of the country on April 30. When is this going to be fixed? It is a bit ridiculous Turbotax has been aware for the length of time they have and been unable to fix the issues with T3
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, updates were available this morning. Please make sure to update your software and amounts should report properly for T3s/T5s splitting with spouse and amounts are reported in T936.
We tested it this morning and it's working.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
I have tried multiple times to do update and it will not download and TurboTax will not start.
I had the same issue...on the one selection page where you can say NO, it will stop the install and start turbotax, but i have no idea if the update has been applied.
I tested it and it is NOT working for me.
So much for testing? The update process for desktop doesn't seem to work. Maybe one step forward but in reality it is two steps backwards.
Keep us posted! Really should have responded acknowledging this problem already.
Me 2. The update crashes and Turbotax doesn't then start up automatically.
just did an update , says i am up to date. i did have issues with the update initially it just kept crashing( well turbo tax just never started). had to reboot my computer , then finally turbo tax would do the update.
However the 68140 line in t936 is still not accurate. is there some thing we need to do to get turbo tax to update that field. I did go into the T3 and save/close the entry. it did nothing....
Can i manually update this field in "forms" version instead of easy step? Or would that bypass some other processing that turbo tax needs to do?
