how to enter an RRSP transfer from deceased person to spouse

We would like to tell you we are sorry for your lost.

In order to assist you properly, can you tell us which version of TurboTax you are using; Online or Desktop?

We will need more details to properly guide you. Do you have a T-Slip for this transfer? If you received a T4RIF, depending on the box where you have the amount, you should have the possibility to answer YES to the question Received due to spouse's death?

As per CRA, if the annuitant's spouse or common-law partner is designated as a beneficiary of the RRSP, in the RRSP contract or the will, they will begin receiving the remaining annuity payments from the plan. The surviving spouse or common-law partner has to enter the remaining payments as income on their return. If the amounts from the RRSP are paid to a beneficiary other than the deceased's spouse or common-law partner, enter the amount from box 34 of the T4RSP slip on line 12900 of the deceased’s return

On this link, you will have some FAQ article that can help you with the return.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
