Make sure your software has all its updates and review below for details.

NEW - 2018 - Climate Action Incentive Credit (NB, MB, SK, ON only)

The new refundable credit has no income cap but does have varying amounts by location. If you have a spouse, only one spouse makes the claim for the family (spouse and minor children). Software does it all for you – just enter a few details on your address and family.

Please note, this credit is automatically applied to your tax return, based on the initial entries at the beginning of your tax return starting with the province entry, even before you enter your income and expenses. This is a Federal Tax Credit that is reflective of the province you live in.

You will be able to claim the Climate Action Incentive under the Provincial tab.

  • Under Provincial Tax Credit, if you qualify it will be there for you to CHECK the Climate Action Incentive Credit box and proceed to answer all the necessary question.
  • If you have entered information, you have to go backward and retake your steps to ensure all entries have been made but only if you qualify.

Once that section has been completed, then the amount will calculate on line 449 of your Detailed Tax Summary Page, which is located in the Review Section of your Return after you open Bottom Line Tax summary.

If you are still experiencing this issue after the above has been completed, then proceed to contact our support team for further assistance, as they will be able to view your screen, see below to reach them.

Answer the questions, so it guides you towards the right team.  Apply the drop downs and you will get a phone number specified to your question (ie - support, care):

I am a resident of AB and I understand that AB can apply for the Climate rebate for 2020 tax form, I did not see that option when filling out my taxes

For 2019 (the 2020 tax forms won’t be out until next year), the Climate Action Incentive (CAI) credit is available for Alberta. It is added automatically when you start your return, and only removed if you indicate that you are not eligible.

If you would like to review your claim, this FAQ shows you how to get back to the CAI section in TurboTax Online: https://turbotax.community.intuit.ca/community/claims-deductions-donations/help/how-do-i-claim-the-climate-action-incentive-in-the-online-edition-of-turbotax/00/873790
