We appreciate your feedback and it has been reported to the development team. We will surely post once we have an update.
Thanks for choosing TurboTax.
Well said @Refund123 and thanks for the update @TurboTaxAniqua . Maybe those of us who are eager to get an early start on our tax planning (and have been using the program for 20+ years) could be given the opportunity to become beta testers in the future to help ensure the initial releases are free from errors that shouldn't be there. What say you development team?? 😏.
We value your feedback and it is important to us. I have passed it on to the assigned team. We are looking into it and report back here.
I think i understand what is happening. CRA did not publish the final forms yet. For example. AMT form T691 if you go to CRA website it is still March 2023. So probably Turbotax is giving errors and incorrect calculations until this form is updated. This is probably the same for the schedule 3 capital gains, however, that is a REAL bug. why would it work properly if you have gains for BOTH periods but fail to calculate the fields on schedule 3 if you populate only period A or period B but not both?
I would also like to see the t1135 and schedule 3 have more (or unlimited) fields for security symbols. At least have something reasonable like 20 rows each that can be pre-filled with the software version for netfiling (as opposed to paper filing).
I played around with both options but regardless it was broken.
Also I noticed the RRSP limit is inserted into the field for RRSP contribution, regardless of what you put in for a contribution.
Also political contributions are not propagated to the T1
The bugs are numerous. and unacceptable. Since year to year should be incremental changes it seems that there may have been significant re-coding. Otherwise why are there so many bugs elsewhere, not just with Sched 3 and capital gains?
Thanks for your feedback, we will pass this on to our development team. At this time, some CRA forms are still being reviewed by them for the 2024 tax season, which could explain why some calculations are not done correctly or do not appear. As soon as they are ready, TurboTax will be updated accordingly.
Thanks for choosing TurboTax.
my donations were propagated to the T1..
Do you have a line number or place on the worksheet to see the RRSP contribution/deduction behaviour mentioned?
It seems like almost every module of this program has issues. I guess if you are only reporting one T4 you have a chance at estimating your taxes. I have resolved myself to waiting for the first update (hopefully SOON) before doing any more tax planning. @questionsforever posted a link earlier that has an online calculator that seems pretty accurate. Let's hope this is a one-off and future initial releases are as stable as previous years.
@questionsforever As mentioned above, our team is looking closely into these issues that have been reported. For the moment, most of them are closely linked to the fact that several forms are still under review by the CRA, and that until we receive the latest version of them, this is causing calculation errors or unrelated amounts. When will receive the last version of those forms, TurboTax software will be updated.
As you should know, NetFile will not be available until the end of February 2025. We invite you to continue reporting any errors you encounter to our Product support team, by phone.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Yes. Line 20800. The field is populated with the RRSP Deduction Limit for 2024. It does not matter what amount enter into the RRSP Receipt (double-clicking on the Line 20800 field will display it) the field will always be the RRSP Limit. Note that the Limit is being pulled from the Carry Forward sheet (Carry Forwards from 2023 (continued)), not the RRSP Receipt form.
