Not counting Manitoba Education Property Tax Credit.

On the page Provincial Tax Credit Profile I check "Personal Tax" and "Education Property Tax Credit" and entered the amounts. But, in the "Provincial Tax Summary" Net Education Property Tax Credit is still left as 0.

I have tried to restart filling out the return but it did not work.

What should I do?

Not counting Manitoba Education Property Tax Credit.

Hi islammukhangali! The credit amount is included in the lines for “Personal tax credit (PTC)” and “Total Manitoba PTC” on the Provincial Tax Summary.

Note that homeowners can claim this credit if:

  • You lived in Manitoba at the end of the year
  • You paid rent or school taxes on a principal residence in Manitoba during the year
  • You were 16 or older at the end of the year
  • You were the only one making a claim (in the case of shared accommodation)

Renters can claim this credit if:

New for 2022 is the Renters Tax Credit (RTC). This refundable credit replaces the former rent component of the Education Property Tax Credit, and allows you to claim a fixed monthly rate of $43.75 per rental month, up to a maximum of $525 per year.

To be eligible, you must meet all of the required criteria:

  • You lived in Manitoba at the end of the year
  • Your principal residence in Manitoba is rented during the year
  • You were 16 or older at the end of the year
  • You were the only one making a claim (in the case of shared accommodation)

I hope that helps!
