I just received my "notice of assessment" from the CRA after filing, they said tax calculation was incorrect. They said I received a split pension amount from my spouse which I entered correctly as income on form T1032. The CRA says this is considered pensionable earnings and added CPP amount owing on self-employment and other earnings. They say I owe both employee and employer portion. I am not self-employed. I can't find anything in the tax guide to verify if split pension income is in fact pensionable self-employed earnings. Is turbo tax incorrect or is the CRA incorrect?
I contacted the CRA, on hold for an hour, then went thru 5 different agents, and they can't figure it why they charged me extra CPP. I believe it will be reversed. Thanks
