Foreign income to be claimed as Canadian resident?

Hi!

Firstly – do I declare my Canadian and foreign income as NET or GROSS?

Secondly – I spent over 183 days in Canada in 2019 and earned a foreign income between January and May. I was a visitor in Canada during the first 3 months.

Do I have to declare the whole, or parts of this foreign income as a Canadian resident?

Thank you!

Foreign income to be claimed as Canadian resident?

if your residency in Canada started mid year you should file part year resident return reporting a date when you entered Canada with intention to stay ( not visit) .  Visitors do not need to file tax return.

You need to report your worldwide income from all souses for the residency period. You will be reporting Gross amounts of income and if you  earned foreign income while in Canada and  paid taxes to foreign countries on this income you will enter taxes paid to claim foreign tax credit.
