Open TurboTax
My daughter returned from Australia and now lives in Canada. She is therefore a part year resident for 2024 and has to pro-rate the basic personal amount. There is no field in the T1 General Form to input her entry date into Canada and no apparent place to calculate the pro-rated amount. Do I have to over-ride the field and mail in a printed return with a manually entered date for entry into Canada ? Or, am I missing something on how to handle this without over-ride ?
Are you using an online version or a desktop version?
Desktop version. After posting my question, I subsequently found the form needed to do what was required, so I'm good to go ! (Entered data to the Residency section of the INFLOWS / Personal Information form)
