How do I prevent T5008 slips from downloading from CRA? I understand that there is no mass-delete once they are downloaded, but can I prevent them from downloading?
Once you get to view the slips that were imported by the CRA, you should see a checkbox beside each slip; you can then uncheck the one beside T5008 before you do the import.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Tried that but it used the slips anyway. I even left the T5008 unchecked in the Easy Step method.
Problem is that there are 200+ slips and entering the type of income and the date will take forever.
Where the amounts don't get added until the type of income is selected, what will happen if I leave them blank and make one entry for the net capital gain on Sch3? Will TurboTax let me bypass that with nothing more than a warning??
You can group them by category and enter the totals as a single bulk entry, which will then flow accurately to your Schedule 3.
Grab the totals from your investment summary and enter those amounts in CAD currency.
Make sure to keep all slips for the CRA if they ask for them.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Adding one summary T5008 is the easy part. Getting rid of the 100's of individual slips is aggravating part and it is a simple fix in the software:
1. Allow mass "Income Type" and "date of disposition" entries, OR
2. Fix the delete function during the CRA download ... delete doesn't delete, OR
3. At least make the individual slip delete process ONE click instead of click here then there.
And to answer my own question, can't Netfile with the warning for T5008's still there. Print and mail only.
I would like to know if this problem will be addressed for 2026 ... it will be a factor in tax software selection.
