I realize you're only trying to help here, but really, how is modifying a tax slip as supplied by the financial institution an acceptable solution? This isn't just about getting the TT software to compare the values in the boxes correctly; when we file we are legally certifying that everything we submit is accurate.
Depending on how strict the CRA wants to be about this, there could be audits or worse as a consequence of doing this.
I think you should tell your supervisors we are out of patience. it's ridiculous this is not fixed.
That’s good. Didn’t work for me and still can’t file.
This is sooo frustrating.
Didn’t work for me.
I rounded up by $0.16 to eliminate the decimals and I could file, hopefully CRA is OK with me claiming the extra few cents of capital gains, even if the figure doesn't match the official T3.
It will work to separate one T3 into 2 T3 to get around the 50-50 split with your spouse, but I do not think that this is the way to approach the issue. You will be creating 2 new T3s that did not exist from your financial institution and disregarding the one that was provided by them. It may lead to other future issues when dealing with the CRA as they may ask for an explanation. For Quebec residents, the split by Turbotax was done correctly but the capital gains were not reported if you didn't put the same amount in Box 53 to match that of Box 21.
Too many workarounds are being done by the users as it would be much easier for TT to provide their fix ASAP.
Isn’t that interesting. You rounded up correct? Thanks.
Well said
I'm having the same problem. I can't file my return because I keep being told to fix the T3 when the T3 is correct. Any updates on this situation? I don't know what to do other than wait and keep trying to file. I've been trying since Match 22, 2025 with no success.
