Schedule 7 Error

Hello All,

I am having an issue with scheduel 7.

I withdrew under the HBP a number of years ago and am worling through the repayment - this has led me to find an error on schedule 7. I have $X of RRSP contributions and have designated my required HBP repayment. This is where im running into an error.

Line 6 - this is my $X of RRSP contribution

Line 7 - "Constribution designated as a repayment under th HBP"

Line 8 - is $0 for me - is the repayment of LLP

Line 9 - define as  "Line 7 plus line 8" - this is working fine.

Line 10 - defined as "Line 6 minus line 9" - ERROR Present

Line 10 would typically take my contributions and reduce it by the amount designated as a repayment of the HBP. But there is a glitch where it is ADDING line 6 and line 9 thereby increasing my contributions available to deduct.

I am very confident this is an error and because this is a formula cell and is locked from editing I have no way to correct this. Im wondering if this is an error local to my copy of TT or is this widespread and has yet to be fixed? Any help would be appreciated.

Schedule 7 Error

First and foremost, I want to ensure that your software is up to date. We have released a new update today. Make sure it's up to date.

Since you cannot edit the formula cell directly, try these steps to troubleshoot:

Go back to the RRSP Profile section.

Temporarily delete your RRSP contribution amount and your HBP repayment amount (set them to $0$).

Continue to the next screen to let the software save that "zero" state.

Go back in and re-enter the numbers, starting with the total contributions first, then the HBP designation.

Ensure the amount you are designating doesn't exceed the total contributions made between March 2025 and March 2026. If you try to designate "Unused" contributions from 2024 or earlier as an HBP repayment, the CRA (and TurboTax) won't allow it, which can cause the math on Schedule 7 to break.

If you are using the CD/desktop version, go to Forms View (bottom left). Open Schedule 7 and look for the "hidden" worksheets. Sometimes, an entry in a background worksheet forces the line 10 value.

If the error persists, we suggest you contact our product support by phone so they can troubleshoot and investigate.
