After completing all the data entry for Tax Year 2024 using the desktop version of TurboTax Standard, I looked at the Detailed Tax Summary Year Over Year Comparison. I noticed that the amount shown for Tax Year 2023 under "Deductions" for RPP, RRSP, PRPP, FHSA, or Pension Splitting was wrong. It did not include the amount I contributed to my FHSA in Tax Year 2023.
I went back and checked all the entries I made for my FHSA Contribution in the desktop version of Turbotax Standard 2023, and found them to be correct.
Why is the Year Over Year Comparison in TurboTax Standard 2024, not showing the correct amount for Tax Year 2023 under "Deductions" for RPP, RRSP, PRPP, FHSA, or Pension Splitting?
So far no such issue is reported on our end. We suggest making sure that the software is up-to-date. Double-check all the entries, and if the issue still persists, we suggest you contact our product support team by phone.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
I already contacted the product support team by phone about this issue, but they were not helpful. That is why I posted the question to the Community. The person I spoke to from product support hung up on me without offering a solution. I later received an email that said my case file was closed. There was a link included in the email for me to complete a survey regarding my experience. When I clicked on the link, it was broken, so I was not able to complete the survey.
There is definitely a bug in the Tax Year 2024 TurboTax Canada software that is causing the FHSA Contribution Amount from Tax Year 2023 not to be included in the year over year comparison for Tax Year 2024. I have updated the software for both 2024 and 2023 Turbotax software and double checked all the entries. The problem still persists. I certainly would appreciate a solution to this problem.
