We upgraded our son's TurboTax program to NetFile for $11.99 plus taxes. We just found out that he cannot NetFile his first return. Can we please get reimbursed for this?

Regardless of what tax software you or your son use, CRA NetFile may not be available for a first time filer. A mail-in return may be needed, because CRA has not yet created a profile 'master file') in the tax database.

This isn't always true. Newcomers to Canada can mostly NetFile or EFILE, as their tax profile was completed when they entered Canada and applied for SIN and PR status.

But born-in-Canada first time filers can't NetFile, so to answer your question, no, as this is nothing to do with the tax software you use.
