When adding expenses as a deduction do you input the total amount including HST or should it be the amount before tax?

When adding expenses as a deduction do you input the total amount including HST or should it be the amount before tax?

If you are registered for HST, you should leave it out of the income and expenses. On the other hand, if you are not registered for HST, you would include HST in expenses as a deduction as seen in this Canada Revenue Agency link Other employment expenses.
