If spouse is an American citizen and does not live in Canada and makes no Canadian income, but does have an income in the usa, should I be claiming the spouse deduction?

When I answer 'yes' I am married,  and 'no' to did he have an income, it calculates the spouse deduction.  If I say 'yes' he does have an income and enter zero's, I get errors.  He is am American citizen living and working in the usa, so does not have a Canadian income.  Trying to be sure I fill it out correctly.

To correctly complete your return, enter your spouse's income (converted to CAN $) rather than zeros. This will remove the spousal credit and give an accurate picture of your income as a couple. Here's a link for more information:
