I had contributed more in RRSP than my limit, will I pay penalty even though it was done in 2019?

I contributed more than my limit during the first 60 days of 2019, will I still face over penalties even though I will have plenty of room next year to absorb the excess?

As you have the option of deducting that contribution made in the First 60 Days in either year, there should be no penalties. If you overcontributed in the First 60 Days, you still need to report the contribution on this year's tax return, then you can claim the overcontribution on your income tax return next year when you have more contribution room available.

Here's some information from CRA on what happen's if you exceed your contribution limit: https://bit.ly/2HWYMU3
