I'm not sure how to record my vehicle expense evenly for all my rental units as it's just recording the entire amount under one property?

In order to apply a portion of your vehicle expenses to each of your rental properties, you'll enter the same full amount of each expense in the vehicle expenses section of the rental portion of your return and adjust the mileage figures for each.

For example, if you have 4 rental properties, drove 5000 total km last year (1000 relating to the rentals), and had $100 in gas expenses,

  1. Enter the mileage for Property A as 250 km -business/rental use (1/4 of the total)
  2. Enter the total mileage for the year as 5000.
  3. Enter the full amount ($100) of the gas expense. Turbotax will calculate the proper expense amount for Property A as 25% of the total allowed expense.
  4. Repeat these steps for each of the following 3 rental properties.
