How do I claim the Manitoba fitness tax credit?

by TurboTax34 Updated 2 weeks ago

The Manitoba fitness tax credit is available to young adults and parents of children who were enrolled in an eligible program of physical activity. Eligible costs include registration and membership fees for sports-related program(s), up to $500 per eligible individual.

To qualify for the credit, you must be a young adult aged 16 to 24, or have a child who was under 16 at the end of the tax year in which the fees were paid. An additional $500 can be claimed by individuals who qualify for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), provided a minimum of $100 of the costs were incurred for membership or registration fees.

The fitness credit provides a nonrefundable benefit of up to $54 per child or young adult, plus an additional $54 for individuals with a disability.
