by TurboTax• Updated 1 week ago
The Manitoba fitness tax credit is available to young adults and parents of children who were enrolled in a prescribed physical activity program. Eligible costs include registration and membership fees for sports-related program(s), up to $500 per eligible individual for the 2021 tax year.
To qualify for the credit, you must be a young adult aged 18 to 24, or have a child who was under 18 at the end of the tax year in which the fees were paid. An additional $500 can be claimed by individuals who qualify for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), provided a minimum of $100 of the costs were incurred for membership or registration fees.
The fitness credit provides a nonrefundable benefit of up to $54 per child or young adult, plus an additional $54 for individuals with a disability.
