When I submitted my tax return, I received this notification.

Please double check that you have correctly entered the amount of Canada training credit limit for the year.

 

Also make sure you are eligible to claim the Canada Training Credit or the annual accumulation of $250.

 

To claim the Canada Training Credit for a taxation year:

  • you file an income tax and benefit return for the year;
  • your Canada training credit limit for the year is greater than zero (Check your NOA from last year);
  • you are resident in Canada throughout the year;
  • tuition or fees are paid to an eligible educational institution in respect of the year; and
  • the tuition and fees are otherwise eligible for the existing tuition tax credit.

 

To claim the annual accumulation of $250:

  • you must be over 26 and under 65 at the end of the tax year.
  • file a tax return for the year;
  • be resident in Canada throughout the year;
  • have a total of $10,000 or more of income from:
    • maternity and parental benefits, and
    • working income (income from an office or employment, business income, the taxable part of scholarship income and research grants, the tax-exempt part of earnings of status Indians and emergency service volunteers, and income under the Wage Earner Protection Program Act).
  • have individual net income for the year that does not exceed the top of the third tax bracket in that year ($155,625 in 2022).

I am having this issue (and I do NOT live in the Yukon). I have tried three times to file now and no matter what I do to 'correct' the issue, it seems to reject. I have to get it right. Please help?

No, this is not acceptable. Clearly this is an issue on Turbotax's end of things. There are too many people complaining. Please do better. Do not respond with a canned 'call helpdesk' when you know that the recording does nothing but force you into a conundrum of automated service that emails you a link that leads you directly back to this help page. So please, do that: help. There is no reason why this is happening on my end of things. My taxes are pretty basic.

@AMBP Please double check  the amount of Canada training credit limit for the year and make sure you are eligible to claim the amount for the year.

I experienced the same issue this year - so incredibly frustrating. My calculations checked out and I investigated...only to find a lengthy number of equivalent complaints! 
Such a silly problem to be continually happening for over 3 years. 

I ended up mailing mine, because I ran out of  Netfile attempts (they allow you a max of 5 before the CRA locks you out) and I was just feeling done. 

Turbo Tax - please lodge this complaint and work to fix this bug for 2025 tax season.

I also am experiencing this issue in 2025. I have double checked all my numbers and they are correct. There is no error in the numbers, but CRA says there is. It's not one of the common netfile errors being reported on the TurboTax blog. Now I find out this is an ongoing issue for three years with Turbotax? Brutal.

During tax season (from CRA NETFILE opening (mid-February) to the regular filing deadline (April 30), we're available 7 days a week during these hours:

  • 9 AM to midnight ET for English support
  • 9 AM to 9 PM ET for French support
