We have a home in Ab and a vacation property in Nanaimo BC.  We will likely be charged a new "speculation tax" in BC unless we determine BC to be our principle residence but we want to compare the tax implications of filing in BC as opposed to Alberta.  Which product should we buy (note that i do some small business our of my home and we're both pensioners.

If you'd like to do a few test runs, why not check out TurboTax Online first? Our Self-Employed version sounds like the right fit. With TurboTax Online, you don't pay until you're ready to file so you can start any number of returns. Start one return and run the numbers (again no need to pay until you're ready to file) and then start a new one with the other scenario. Here's the link to get started: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/personal-tax-software/self-employed-online.jsp

It's important to note that CRA considers your home address as your province of residence for tax purposes.
