Good grief! I'll take my chances with CRA - cannot get past the stupid automated robot when calling TurboTax because I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO A ROBOT OR HAVE ANY OF MY RESPONSES RECORDED BY A ROBOT!!!!! If there are actually people there to help, I'll call but I won't talk to a robot who claims to have information to help me based on me saying "I'm calling at the suggestion of a community comment" and then asks for my cell or email - what a load of crap!
I'll do what seems to be the best and carry on. This effort is not worth $30 especially when the rules for T691 do not apply and the program continually flags "errors" for it. Having read through the article at CRA about Line 41700 (Minimum Tax - https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/about-your-tax-return/tax-re...), it appears that the threshold is $173K. Besides that, what does one do if the programs states that line 22100 looks for an amount entered into another one of two lines which do not apply to our situation?
I ended up clicking "ignore" on the warning (oops), so I'm going to create a new return without entering my $ on line 22100 to see if the warning still shows.
This whole thing is really frustrating for 2024.
Okay, I created another return without the management fees.
If I do not add my management fees on line 22100, I am presented with a "tax-saving opportunity" that reads: "Don't forget to deduct any interest expenses or carrying charges that you may have incurred, such as investment counsel fees."
When I add them in, then the warning about line 22100 missing entries from T691 shows up again. None of those items on T691 apply to my situation so... I have to decide:
Add the management fees and hope CRA does not flag it OR do I just leave them off completely?
I am in exactly the same situation. If I leave the investment management expenses out the error message goes away.
None of the items in T691 apply to my situation. I have done two calculations based on formula found on Intuit's site and on the CRA site and I am way below the threshold for any of this being applicable.
This has to be a bug of some kind. Is there any workaround other than clicking on ignore?
The system also seems to think I have non capital losses in the current year which is also not true. Where are they lurking?
Some direction or a fix would be appreciated.
Definitely a bug in Turbotax. I tried a clean return and as soon as you put anything in line 22100 the AMT gets triggered and the warning message comes up.
Turbotax: please address this !
@dlms55 We invite you to confirm with CRA regarding your situation. Here some links you can consult to have more details about the subject:

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Seriously? If anyone reads the previous comments it should be clear that we have researched this issue. My comments were posted AFTER I already read everything I could find on the issue.
That said, I could not find ANYTHING that makes my situation applicable for AMT.
Coming at this from a different angle, is the issue that not all maintenance or management fees allowed to be included? Perhaps by the name I'm entering from my slip TurboTax assumes it is something that requires a line 67820 or 67840 entry? I cannot fathom why these two lines MUST be completed when an entry exists on line 22100 if neither situation applies to an individual.
This is making me second guess how accurate TurboTax is in the rest of the program. What is it not doing correctly that I'm not even aware of?
Seriously? There is an issue here that everyone is having. It’s an issue with the SW or CRA. At a minimum Turbotax needs to acknowledge the issue and provide a point of view or a workaround.
