Amount owing

Is the refund amount including what was taken to pay the previous balance for CRA owing? So if it says refund 40 that means my balance with CRA has been paid?

The refund amount showing up for the particular year that you are preparing a return for. This calculation doesn't include any thing that you already owe CRA.
