I downloaded 2017 tax year from a cd and can't open file.

This error is most common is you're importing your 2016 information from a password protected file. If you have password protection enabled on your 2016 TurboTax file,

1. Close the 2017 version.
2. Open the 2016 version and remove the password protection (details below).
3. Reopen 2017 and import. If you would like to reapply the password to the 2016 file, be sure the info has been carried forward to your 2017 file before re-enabling.
