I think that when you label yourself as a non-resident, it defaults to that form and inserts your data. However, I still think that the CRA has not finalized that form for 2024
Thanks @Shakerhill1 . This answers my questions. I guess we need to create a new return and not by import from previous year. Seems to me we cannot import the previous year return and change the residence.
how do I do it?
If you label yourself as a non-resident, the form will automatically populate and generate the non-resident return.
however, there is a glitch if you have any employment income in a province. I had fees from serving on a board of directors of a Canadian company. In that case you have to change your province of residence to the province that you earned the employment income in in order to properly calculate the Ontario taxes and to eliminate the federal surtax which applies to income NOT earned in a province.
you can leave your address as the foreign address.
@kfishery Yes, you can use TurboTax to prepare a non-resident return, but you can electronically file it as per CRA rule. You do have to Print & Mail your return to CRA
