Can I use Turbo tax standard to file for a deceased person? the option in the Profile section doe not contain deceased, only married or widowed (which is me).
I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
Yes, you can use TurboTax Desktop to prepare a return for the deceased.
As your wife has passed away, you would have to prepare your returns separately. You would be widowed, and she would still be married. The question that asks for a date of death doesn't appear until the Personal information page.
Hi. I am filing for my deceased father. I have been able to access his file through turbo tax online and inputted all the required income and expenses. He is long divorced and have checked that option. However, no where can I find the option to indicate he is deceased or a spot to input the date of death? Can you help?
@Terrance200 The option is not inside the return. You would have to start a new return TurboTax Online, without a transfer, and select that you are preparing the return for someone else. Then when it asks for their name, there will be an option to check to say they are deceased.
CRA says to input the First Name as The Estate of and the Last Name as the late Persons full Name but the program does not allow that. What is the go around?
