Separated and then back together

I am filing the tax returns for my daughter and her husband.  They separated in June 2023 but then got back together in January 2024.  When I started their 2023 returns I did them separately in the tax software, but now I am being asked to insert information from each other into the others tax return.  Can I import their 2022 returns and file them together and still say "separated" on each return and then it will transfer the information properly?  I will need the returns together for 2024 when they will file as married again.  Trying to save myself sometime but also want to do this correctly.

Separated and then back together

If you do the returns together, you will only have the option to pick married or common-law. You need to do the returns separately to enter any other marital status.
