I am a temporary resident in Canada on a temporary work permit.
I started working in December 2019 and got my first paycheck deposit on January 2020.
My employer said I get no T4 slips since I only got paid until January 2020, although I was hired on December 2019 and technically earned money on those days, although that was paid until January 2020.
Do I still need to file taxes ? The company is already substracting all my taxes from my paycheck every pay day.
Although you worked in December 2019, your first pay was not given until January, which means you will not file a 2019 tax return.
You will file your 2020 tax return in the next fiscal year 2021.
I hope this clarifies it for you!

Thanks that was my major concern, it is a relief to know I will need to file taxes until next year.
Thanks
