Getting started

I was told by Microsoft(Oct. 23/2025) that I will have another year of updates for my Windows 10. So the updates will now end on October 2026. So my question is, will my computer be able to run Turbo Tax Version 2025 for the tax year 2025? My computer cannot be upgraded  to Windows 11 because of hardware requirements. I would like to get at least one more year of using Turbo Tax. Thank you.

Getting started

My question is: if I jailbreak my Windows 10 computer and Force Windows 11 onto it, will TT2025 run?

Getting started

@user17613705870 Yes, TurboTax Desktop will work on Windows 11.

@Vote_Quimby Again, we pass on all your comments & concerns to the relevant teams within TurboTax Canada.

I'd also like to point out the even if they change their mind about supporting Windows 10 for 2025, that won't necessarily be the case next year.

@TurboTaxSusan

That's perfectly fine; I won't be running Windows 10 past Extended Security Updates anyways.

So just the one year that's ALREADY supported by Microsoft. It's not a slippery slope, just outrageously obvious common sense.

ill be switching to another company also.

Getting started

The download page currently has the following statement under system requirements;

"Operating systems
Windows 10 or later (Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are not supported)

Can someone provide an unambiguous response to the Windows 10 / Windows 11 conundrum?

Getting started

@JOCAR Yes, TurboTax 2025 is fully compatible with Windows 10. While Intuit and Microsoft recommend Windows 11 for the best security and performance, Windows 10 remains a supported operating system for the 2025 software version.

Minimum Requirement: The baseline requirement is Windows 10 (64-bit).

Unsupported Versions: Older systems like Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 are strictly unsupported, and the software will not install on these platforms.

Selection During Launch: When you launch TurboTax Desktop, you may see recommendations to upgrade to Windows 11, but the software will function correctly on a fully updated version of Windows 10.

For the most current hardware and software specifications, refer to the official TurboTax Canada system requirements: How does the end of support for Windows 10 affect my TurboTax Desktop experience?

Getting started

@teachb A change was made due to customer feedback, so while we still recommend using Windows 11, TurboTax 2025 will run on Windows 10.
