Question about 40% discount and payment timing

Hello,

I recently received an email offering a 40% discount, but I’m currently on vacation and don’t have time to complete my tax return right now.

I’d like to take advantage of the 40% discount—could you please let me know if it’s possible to pay now and finish my return later?

When I go to the payment page within my return, I only see a 26% discount applied to my plan, not the 40% mentioned in the email: 110 CAD instead of 150 CAD with plan TurboTax Assist & Review Self-Employed.

Could you clarify how I can access the full 40% discount and save the discount by paying now without filling it completely?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Getting started

Yes, you can pay now without completing your return.

If the full discount is not showing, let us know once you've paid, and we can refund the difference.

Getting started

@TurboTax_Susan

Hello Susan,

Thank you for your reply.

However, my issue is not related to the discount or payment.

I have already completed the payment step to secure the discount, but I have NOT submitted my tax return yet.

The problem is that my SIN is incorrect, as I received a new SIN in mid-2025. I now need to update it before submitting my return.

Unfortunately, it seems that after reaching the payment step, the SIN field is locked, and I am unable to edit it.

Could you please advise how I can update my SIN or unlock this field before submission?

Or who I need to reach to to get my expired discount to work again so I can repurchase..?

Thank you for your help.

Getting started

If you need to change your SIN, then on the 2025 tax return home page, you can click on Personal Info > Edit, then click Edit to the right of your name.

Getting started

Like I said,

I cannot. I have tried. I think the payment is equivalent to a return being filed, so they are blocking the filled in regards to the SIN..

Getting started

The payment to TurboTax is not the same as having filed, as the CRA is not involved with that payment.
