Credits and deductions

@ScottBrayshaw I'm not a tax expert, so I can’t really provide much guidance. However I can point out that on the CRA’s own website, they make the statement: “You may be able to claim the amount for an eligible dependant if, at any time in the year, you supported an eligible dependant and met certain conditions.”

Line 30400 – Amount for an eligible dependant

Schedule 5 - Amounts for Spouse or Common-Law Partner and Dependants (for all)

Also, their little quiz to determine eligibility doesn’t ask if the child was 18 all year, just if the dependant that was supported “was your child, grandchild, brother, or sister (by blood, marriage, common-law partnership, or adoption) and under 18 years of age or had an impairment in physical or mental functions”.

Can you claim an amount for an eligible dependant?
