Troubleshooting

Please make sure that you have the T776 opened then go to EDIT then close unused forms. This should delete the form.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax

@Sakuraba @Navsdar Please try this:

  1. In forms mode, go to the form you want to delete
  2. Select Edit > Forms > Clear Forms from the top menu
  3. Select Edit > Forms > Close Unused Forms from the top menu
  4. If you have a spouse with the un-needed form, repeat the steps above

Troubleshooting

SOLVED - SOLVED --- I had the same issue, spoke to agent Fahida, Toronto, she SOLVED THE PROBLEM. She is going to post in this forum. Basically, the problem is with the T2125 and the T1 General. Make sure your name address etc. is all filled out exactly on these forms (it was just these 2 forms).

There is a glitch in the software (HEY TURBOTAX DEVELOPPERS THIS IS AN OFFICIAL BUG REPORT) that has NOT been solved since 2019 based on the first agent I spoke to. I was told first to start over the return, and i have 160 tax slips so uh-uh... A fluke I called back 2 hours later (8:45 pm May 1st, 3 hours before deadline) and got Fahida, who had someone with the same problem a week ago (my lucky day i guess).

The way I understand it is if there`s missing personal info (name address postal code city etc) on your t2125 or a mismatch with the T1 general, the software thinks you have rental income and generates a T779. THIS IS A BUG!!! You like me, try clearing the info on the form and closing unused forms a dozen times and it won`t work UNTIL you correct the name address postal code etc so it matches on T1 and T2125.

I walked through that with her. And then I closed all unused forms, the T779 did not come back and I was able to NETFILE. I`m taking 3 stars off TurboTax for this, that nearly caused me to have to print out returns after deadline and pay penalties and interest or at the very least spend half a day printing and mailing.

The solution for me after speaking to a very pleasant and helpful Level 1 support person who called a higher level support person while I was on the call ( took an hour in total):

1. On the blank line property in the Rental Summary page (RENT) summary re-enter all the data from one of the active properties.

2. Then Edit/Forms/Clear Current Form on the original active property

3. Then Edit/Forms/Closed Unused Form on the original active property

This should now have no blank lines on the RENT summary page of ( now all active) properties.

The solution from zee-Apostle from Farida did not work in the least for me.....
