Troubleshooting

Hi, this is still an issue when I am searching for answers, crazy its almost been a year.

My questions is I closed my company in Jan 2025, its a sole proprietor and I sold the company. I was the only owner. Its not a lot of money. Where do I report this in turbotax? I have searched online but it references an area I can't find.

Thank you,

Patty

@patricia-gail We are still looking at all options to resolve the issue of deleted posts showing up in the community search, and we're sorry for any inconvenience.

Regarding your question, Can you please provide more information about your problem? Are you using TurboTax Desktop or TurboTax Do It Yourself (Online)?

Troubleshooting

I am using turbo tax do it your self onlne.

I am guessing there has to be a simple way to include it, especially as a single owner of a small business, no employees.

Troubleshooting

@patricia-gail You would enter your business income & expenses in the self-employment section. If you closed the business, then you would say Yes when it asks if it was your final year.

This CRA webpage has more information on selling a business: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/business-registration/maintai...

Troubleshooting

I raised this issue nearly one year ago (March 20 2025).  In response to your requests, I provided detailed screen shots of multiple cases of this behaviour.  Other users have reported the same issue.  Reproducing the issue should therefore not be the problem.

As I prepare to do my taxes for 2025 and I search for answers to some questions in community messages, there is an annoyingly large number of posts whose title suggests they contain an answer to my question but which it turns out I cannot access.

It has been suggested that only "old" or "deleted" post exhibit this behaviour.  This is not true.  For example, a request for "T5013 missing fields" results in a January 2025 post (see picture below) that exhibits the access denied behaviour.

The community files contain a treasure trove of information that represent most of the value of the Turbotax service when compared to other tax preparation tools. Time to get this fixed or at least find us a workaround!

Thank you.
