Can I use the self employed version, and then download it so I can send it to my own personal accountant and not use the expert provided by TurboTax?

Yes, but you will only be able to download a PDF copy of your return, which can't be edited. Your accountant won't be able to make changes or file the return for you. You'll have to come back and do it yourself in TurboTax.
