I bought the super visa insurance for my mother, She came to Canada for two years on super visa in December 2019. Can I submit the expense of buying that insurance when I m filing the tax for 2019
Premiums that are paid to private health services plans including medical, dental and hospitalization plans are considered to be eligible medical expenses by the Canada Revenue Agency. However, to be able to claim medical expenses for a dependant (that isn't your child), the dependant must be a resident of Canada at some time during the year. So if your mother isn't a resident, then you can't claim the expense for the super visa insurance on your tax return.
