If you didn't live in Quebec during 2022, then you don't need to submit a Quebec tax return.
Hello, Thank you so much for your reply.
I actually did live in Quebec during 2022, Since January first to 30 Jun and then moved to Ontario (living from July first to December 31). should I mail my tax returns to Quebec revenue agency to get refund for the first six months of 2022, or CRA would be in charge for whole 2022?
I would really appreciate if you could assist me.
Thank you.
Yasamin
You will simply complete your tax return saying you were living in Ontario as of December 31st and will not need to complete a separate Quebec. Make sure you enter every T-slip and releve's you have received.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
That's great, but where do I enter the revele information in Turbo tax? I have a RL 2 (RRIF payment) not a RL 1. I see where I can enter RL 1, but I can't find a place for the RL 2 (only the T4RIF).
@Kath66 Because Releve 1 and 2 slips are Quebec slips only, you won't be able to enter them in a return if it's not a Quebec return. And, as you should know, in the province of Quebec you must send returns to CRA and to Revenu Quebec.
TurboTax only lets you select one province per return. So, if you need to do both an Ontario & a Quebec return, then you will need to do 2 separate TurboTax returns - one where you choose Ontario as your province on December 31st, and then one where you choose Quebec, for the beginning of the year. You will end up preparing your federal return twice, but you only need to submit it once.
We suggest you confirm some details with Revenu Quebec before sending your Quebec return, as you were not in Quebec all year long.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax
