My teen child worked part-time in 2002. He paid EI, which shows in box 18 of the T4 slip. When I put all information on Turbo tax, it does show he gets no refund.

As per our TurboTax articles: Canada’s federal and provincial governments use income tax deductions or credits to reduce the tax for some taxpayers and to promote certain activities considered to be beneficial. Some deductions reduce the income subject to tax, while others reduce the amount of the tax directly.

As your teen may not be eligible for those credits or have expenses to claim, a refund will not be available. Please see our TurboTax articles for more information below.
