This is new on the 2024 under Review: Warning
“To calculate the Ontario Child Care Tax Credit correctly, ensure all checkboxes for you and any supporting person listed and their income is accurately reported”. 🤔
Did not see this warning in previous years. Anyone?
That was definitely not a warning in previous years. Which shows Turbo Tax has now caught the error at their end and is trying to rectify it.
There is no such warnings in prior years for sure, I've always read all warnings carefully.
I was also reassessed for 2022 and 2023 tax returns for the CARE credit because TurboTax's auto-population failed to include my spouse's income on the form, despite we always filed jointly as a couple. what's worse is that in TurboTax (Standard desktop version) for 2022 and 2023 (at least, I didn't check prior years), ON479-A is not accessible by users, only ON479 is accessible but the CARE credit field is locked for editing and is fed from ON479-A, so even this error was discovered earlier it could not be manually fixed.
I see in 2024 this error still exist as default setting, but at least in 2024 ON479-A is accessible and you will need to manually check the box to add your spouse as a supporting person which will include his income in family income. in 2022 and 2023 TurboTax never asked any related question or warned users anything about ON479-A or the CARE credit, it just did everything in the background WRONG.
I've paid my tax owing and arrears interest and filed a interest relief application to CRA, which will take at least 6 months to process. if CRA denies my request, TurboTax should reimburse me and all users impacted the arrears interest, as it is totally due to defect in their software!
Please count me in if there's a class action against TurboTax for this issue!
I have had the same experience and am at a loss as to what to do. I have already spent hours on hold with no resolution or solution as to how to even submit my information. Does anyone have a physical address to send a registered letter to.
Well, I'd offer the address I was told to use, except it seems they wouldn't sign for the package, and now it's showing as "available for pickup" ... like they're going to go pick it up after not signing for it. Not too impressed so far, did anyone else actually get their courier delivered?
I sent it to TurboTax Returns Dept., 8 Spadina Avenue - Suite 1900 - Toronto, On - M5V 0S8
However, my tracking with Canada Post said "Customer addressing error found; attempting to correct" and then the next day "Delivered to recipient's delivery partner." I have no idea what that means and have received zero confirmation that my claim was actually received to the correct department.
I literally just got an update very similar to yours. After paying for signature required to have confirmation, I also just got "Delivered to recipient's delivery partner" with no signature shown. I'll give it a day in case Canada Post just needs to scan them in at the end of the day or something, but what was the point of paying all the extra money for courier with signature required if they allow their drivers to do something like that?

Please count me in for the lawsuit if it goes forward. Also I would like to join the Facebook group, can someone please provide the link for this Facebook group? Thank you
