The Industry codes have been revised for 2022. You would need to look here for the new codes: https://www23.statcan.gc.ca/imdb/p3VD.pl?Function=getVD&TVD=1369825
If you are a Direct Sellers, then Codes 454300 & 454390 will no longer work. Direct Sellers must now choose codes based on what they are selling.
@Hobbylinc This is happening because the industry codes were revised in 2022, and unlike previous years, they have made some changes which affect a lot of people. What is the industry that you are in? If you sell products or services on the internet, you would have to go based on what you sell. An ISP might use 517310 - Wired and wireless telecommunications carriers (except satellite), while a streaming service might use 516212 - Media streaming distribution services.
I am getting this error when submitting the file - You have entered an invalid industry code
I have double, triple checked this industrial code for my business - 454110. It hasn't been changes for the years. Can you please double check it as it is blocking me filing the tax now.
If netfiling a prior year return, e.g. 2020, is the old (2017 v.3) or new (2022 v.1) industry code used @TurboTaxSusan?
I also had trouble filing my business return using CRA's industry codes. I followed the link to Stats Canada, looked up the same category and got a different code which did work and I was able to Netfile.
@TurboTaxSusan I am also having this issue with TT blocking the Netfile stating that an invalid industry code has been entered. I have tried multiple codes. reviewed the codes on the StatsCan and Canada.ca websites. None work for selling of home goods. Please assist.
I am filing a Canadian 2022 tax return that is mostly a personal tax return but has some self employed business activities. I have tried a whole bunch of industry codes and keep getting an error message to fix it when I try to Netfile. I think there is a Turbotax problem or bug here.
And this is the first year I am filing this return with self employed income.
@GKFinancial it definitely appears to be a TurboTax bug. This is the 4th year that my wife has had income from her side-hustle in addition to her employment income and we've had no issues claiming it via TurboTax. This year, the industry code we previously used didn't work, so after finding this thread I tried several others, all to no avail. Intuit needs to fix this.
It says my industry code: 519130 is wrong.
And I cant NETFILE
